Universal Basic Income is money given unconditionally to all its citizens by the government. It's a set of guaranteed payments that gives financially security to everyone regardless of employment status. It is an approach that comes all the way from one of the founding fathers of the United States of America. It ultimately represents true financial freedom that we truly deserve.
I currently believe we are stuck in the 20th century. Our programs are currently designed to help mainly people employed but not people in the streets. Since the Great Depression we have seen a gradual increase In homelessness and we have seen all sorts of programs designed to help some people but not all of them even completely.
These government funded programs are put together to help problems of the 20th century. We don't have as much factories as we use to due to the rising cost to manufacturing anything. Gradually, companies see that they can get away with paying employees less, and even cut their hours in retail and fast food/restaurant jobs.
The rise of technology has both helped and hurt society in many ways. Despite low unemployment rates at the time of writing this, homeless and wealth inequality are rising issues that are contributing to depression as well. The number one cause of divorce is finances. The number one case of bankruptcy is the rise of the failure to pay their medical bills. The average person can't afford a sudden bill in the mail of less than $1000. Most people don't even have $1000 in their bank account and these are issues that are clearly showing that this nation is going in the wrong direction.
I believe that this nation has to shift its budget to directly meet the needs and issues of the 21st century. We need something called the Universal Basic Income which has been tried and tested in other countries.
The stock market and American economy at large is leading the rest of the world. When it rises so does the stock markets of the rest of the world. When it crashes it crashes the rest of the stock markets around the world. For the United States to continue to lead and influence the world and for the United States Dollar to continue to be a world reserve currency, we need to adopt a solution that actually has a more direct solution/answer to the rising problems that aren't currently addressed at a large scale and if we can do it for the long run we can influence the rest of the world to do the same thing and make this world a better and more generous place. This answer is called the Universal Basic Income.
Basic income programs may begin giving out a certain amount of money per United States citizen per month beginning at the age of 18. In the long run it can replace many programs and make it simpler for the government to manage. We have lots of problems that do not solve the issues that continue to rise including depression and homelessness. The program has many benefits and through one program, solves many issues.
1: Less Stress and worry. Stress is never healthy and can lead to other issues like depression and anxiety. People will be able to save and have the money they need for they things they need. More money to pay bills and take care of debt, pay for college, maybe invest in the stock market. Knowing that you have guaranteed money coming in monthly means you still have something coming in between jobs and can even be used to pay a baby sitter if needed.
2: Job satisfaction goes up. The issue with the Universal Basic Income May mean people will be lazy and this is false. Most people that are financially better prepared are likely to change jobs more easily with less worry about their finances. Those that do not want to work don't have to. Those that want to will work jobs they want, and overtime job satisfaction goes up because people are long for the jobs they truly want. This will make jobs less stressful cause then people working won't create stress unto others working for the same company cause they do not want to be there. This universal basic income can give them the freedom to focus on another career.
3: Graduation rates goes up. Some kids are working to help their parents pay bills. College students are working jobs while they're attending college and this fakes up valuable time they could of used to study and be better prepared for their exams and certifications etc they are needing for their careers. This can ultimately help them be more focused and less worried about finances. With enough saved up from the basic income they can even graduate debt free.
4: It can extend to the rest of the world economy. You can spend it on a vacation, go to the nicer hotel, maybe buy another home in another country, and spend more than you thought you can. The more countries have this, the more the rest of the world ultimately benefits. The Universal Basic Income program not only some poverty worldwide but for generations to come it can prevent it alongside financial education which I feel is a must.
Additionally, another form of a Universal Basic Income that has long term potential is something like a Social Wealth Fund which pays annual dividends to its citizens. Something comparable to the Alaska Permanent Fund would help in the long run as it funds and grows itself in the long run without costing too much to the tax payers in the long run. This is the other option that can help.
I believe that the Universal Basic Income is "preventative care" in a sense that in the long run it can prevent homelessness and suicide which brings down life expectancy and earning potential. Homelessness alone can prevent the extra hidden costs for their healthcare and shelter alone alongside other services we already offer to them. The universal basic income can not only give people a minimum to survive but guarantee that for generations to come that they will be fine.
One of the main things we can do is repeal something that says its a conflict of interest for the government to own dtocks and or other public securities so we end up having access to other "tools" that can be leveraged to maximize the growth of the money paid into, for example, social security, unemployment etc. if the money we pay into these things were paid into a social wealth fund & remove the income cap for social security taxes then we won't have to keep paying more into it later on and borrowing to keep it going. We can satisfy the needs of the people without additional taxes or programs, we just need more tools to leverage to keep it going in the long run.
The following is a Universal Basic Income Cryptocurrency which I think is the closest the world has so far, to a universal basic income and is a prime example of what the world needs. Many countries will benefit as economic activity spreads worldwide helping more people. This is an affiliate link but it provides a basic income to anyone interested in it and is backed by Andrew Yang, a 2020 United States presidential candidate that is running with a universal basic income which he brands as the Freedom Dividend.

In summary the universal basic income / freedom dividend would be an economic Renaissance of the 21st century, a rebirth of society and the rise of creativity which will guarantee everyone purpose.
